1 dead in pipeline explosion at La. Air Force base
BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. — The military says a natural gas pipeline explosion at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana has killed a civilian.
Maj. Carie Parker, a spokeswoman for the 2nd Bomb Wing, says the explosion happened about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday near an unpopulated area on the base’s East Reservation. No evacuations were ordered. She says the fire is under control.
She says the person’s name has not been released.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
