Explosions in northern Iraqi city kills 3 people
BAGHDAD — Police and hospital officials say two roadside bombs in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk have killed three people and wounded six.
A Kirkuk police officer says the first blast took place around 9:30 a.m., targeting a police convoy. The officer said two guards of the city’s police chief were in the convoy and both were killed in the attack. The police chief was not in the convoy.
The officer says that minutes later, another roadside bomb targeting a police patrol went off, killing a policeman.
The casualties were confirmed by an official at the hospital.
Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
