5.6 magnitude quake hits Meghalaya

SHILLONG - A 5.6 magnitude earthquake rocked Meghalaya Saturday morning, triggering panic among residents. No casualties have been reported.

According to the Regional Seismological Centre here, the tremor was felt at 4.50 a.m. in most parts of Meghalaya.

Seven northeastern states are considered by seismologists to be the sixth most earthquake-prone belt in the world.
