Passenger trains collide head-on in Belgium

BRUSSELS — Two rush-hour passenger trains have collided head-on in a suburban Brussels train station.

There was no immediate word on the cause of Monday’s crash at the station of Buizingen, a town southwest of the Belgian capital.

Belgian media said several people were injured in the collision in snowy conditions.

Railway authorities said the crash caused great damage to overhead power lines in the station.

Rail traffic from Brussels to southwestern Belgium was halted.
