Professor shot, robbed of car in Greater Noida

GREATER NOIDA - A professor was shot and robbed of his car in the Jalvayu Vihar area of Greater Noida Saturday, police said.

Sunil Kumar, 45, a professor at IEC Engineering College in Greater Noida was stopped at gunpoint by three men on a bike at about 3.30 pm, Superintendent of Police (Greater Noida) Surendra Verma said.

The assailants placed a pistol on his head and forced him to get out off the car. When he resisted, the assailants shot him. While one of the assailants drove the car off, the two others fled on their bike, Verma said.

Sunil Kumar sustained an injury in his right shoulder. He was taken to the Sharda Hospital where his condition was stated to be serious but out of danger.

The assailants also took away his mobile phone, but left behind the cash he was carrying.

“At the time when the incident happened, the mobile phone’s location was traced to be in Hauz Khas. We are investigating the matter,” Verma said

A case was registered at the Kasna police station.
