Fire in locomotive workshop, no casualty

LUCKNOW - A fire broke out in a locomotive workshop of the Northern Railway here Tuesday, triggering panic among the employees, an official said. No casualty was reported.

The fire enveloped a sizeable portion of the workshop situated close to the citys main railway station at Charbagh.

The railway engines and other machinery housed in the workshop were, however, not damaged, according to an official.

We managed to control the fire before it could spread to nearby areas. The flames have been completely doused, Lucknows chief fire officer Rajendra Tiwari told reporters here.

Most of the employees rushed out on their own. We helped some others who were working inside the workshop, he added.

The cause of the fire was not immediately determined, he said.
