LUCKNOW - A fire broke out in Lucknow’s Novelty cinema hall Thursday evening, an official said, adding that no one was injured in the incident.

The fire broke out in the new Novelty cinema hall in Aliganj area just before the evening show of the movie “Break Ke Baad” was to start.

“The fire was not a major one. We managed it to control it within just half an hour,” Chief Fire Officer Rajendra Tiwari told IANS over telephone.

“A majority of the people managed to come out of the cinema hall by the time fire-fighting officials reached there. A handful of people who were trapped inside were safely rescued by our teams. No fire-fighting official was injured while carrying out thev operations,” he added.

According to officials, no major financial loss was reported in the incident as only a few chairs were destroyed.

Though the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, officials believe it could have been sparked by an electric short-circuit.
