Argentine kidnaps girl he met on Facebook

Buenos Aires, Nov 15 (IANS/EFE) A 39-year-old man in the Argentine capital was arrested on charges of kidnapping a teenaged girl he met on social networking website Facebook, authorities said.

The kidnapper was arrested in La Tablada area on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, where he had taken the teenager after abducting her at the gate of a school where they had agreed to meet for a date, police said Sunday.

A day after the kidnapping, the teenager’s mother received a message in which the kidnapper said the girl would not be returning home any more because she was “getting along fine” with him.

When the mother contacted police, they looked into the teenager’s papers, schedule and computer, and gained access to her Facebook account. They found information showing she had been in regular contact with the man.

Police entered the man’s home Saturday and freed her.
