LUCKNOW - Four people were killed when a speeding truck spun out of the driver’s control and rammed into their car in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad district Tuesday, police said.

The four men, who were in the car bearing an Orissa registration number, died on the spot when the truck crashed into their vehicle in the Utraon area, some 200 km from Lucknow.

“We are yet to identify the four men. They are in the age group of 25-35,” police inspector Balram Mishra told reporters in Allahabad.

“The erring truck driver managed to flee after the accident, leaving the truck at the spot. We are trying to nab the driver,” he added.

According to police, some documents recovered from the car indicated that the four victims may have been working for a pharmaceutical company.

A diary containing mobile telephone numbers of Rajasthan has also been recovered from the accident site.

“We called up on the mobile phone numbers, but our calls were not answered,” said Mishra.
