Six Nepali kids rescued in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW - Six children, all hailing from Nepal, were rescued in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district and a man, involved in a human trafficking racket, was arrested, police said Friday.
The children, who are in the age group of 9-13 years, were rescued late Thursday during a vehicle-checking drive by police in Rupaideeh town, near the Indo-Nepal border.
“The children were inside a Tavera car. Preliminary investigations indicate the children, who are from poor families, were being taken to Chandigarh to work as labourers in hotels and eating joints,” police inspector D.K. Mishra told reporters in Bahraich, some 250 km from Lucknow.
“We have arrested the driver of Tavera. He has given vital information about his associates involved in human trafficking. We have intimated the Nepal police about the incident,” added Mishra, who declined to comment any further.
According to police, most of the children are from Hetauda town in Makwanpur district in southern Nepal.
