Five nabbed with 1,500 cartridges in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW - Five people involved in trading of illegal arms and ammunition were arrested with 1,500 live cartridges and several country-made pistols in Uttar Pradeshs Etah district Friday, police said.

Of the five men, who were nabbed from Kotwali Dehat area, three were natives of Rajasthan.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the five were involved in supplying illegal arms and ammunition,” Senior Superintendent of Police R.K. Chaturvedi told reporters in Etah, some 350 km from Lucknow.

It has also come to the fore that those arrested have supplied around 20,000 cartridges to criminals of different states in the last two years,” he added.
