School bus rolls over in Ga., killing 1 person

CARROLLTON, Ga. — Authorities say a school bus ran into a ditch and rolled over in Georgia, killing at least one person and sending another 12 to hospitals.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says the accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. Monday on Highway 113 between Temple and Carrollton.

The person killed has not been identified. The bus was carrying Temple High School students.

Tanner Health System spokeswoman Kelly Meigs says six patients were sent to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. Three were sent to Tanner Medical Center Villa Rica, and three were sent to Higgins General Hospital in Bremen. Meigs says those in Carrollton and Villa Rica are in good condition, and those in Bremen are in fair condition.

Carrollton is about 50 miles west of Atlanta.
