LONDON (GaeaTimes.com) — Only a year after taking control over the Segway industry, James W. Heselden, the owner has died in a segway accident. This unfortunate incident took place last weekend when James drove off one of the segway off a cliff near his house.

According to media reports, Mr. Heselden, 62, lost control of his segway and drove it off a 30 foot cliff and into a river. The location is said to be very close to his estate, only 140 miles away from London. The exact cause of his death still remains a mystery.

The segway drive is a two wheel human transporter which came to the market on 2002. It was the invention of an entrepreneur from New Hamphshire named Dean Kamen, who is more famous for creating first insulin pump for treatment of diabetes.

In Britain, the Segway cannot be piloted on public roads or paths but only on private property. But they are legal in several European countries. In the United States, Segways are approved for limited use in many states.
