Maharashtra minister’s son charged with attempted murder

MUMBAI - Nitesh Rane, son of Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane, was charged with attempt to murder after he allegedly opened fire at a Congress party worker here Thursday, police said.

According to the complaint by the victim Chintu Shaikh, Nitesh Rane allegedly ordered his goons to attack him when he went to meet him in his office in Khar.

Shaikh further claimed that Rane whipped out a revolver and fired at least one round as he tried to run away.

He told police that he got into his car and drove to the Hiranandani Hospital in Powai east for treatment.
