NOIDA - The Noida police Wednesday claimed to have busted an illegal arms factory in Sector-37 here and arrested three people. Sixteen country-made pistols of 315 bore, a country-made pistol of 32 bore and eight live cartridges were seized from them.

The arrested have been identified as Alauddin, Yusuf and Shafiq. Four others — Altaf, Khurshid, Insaaf Ali and Sakir — were absconding.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Singh said: “Following a tip-off, our team carried out a raid in makeshift dwellings near Saini Samaj Temple in Sector-37 and busted the factory.”

Materials used in assembling pistol were also recovered from the place.

“The accused have confessed to running this business for quite some time. They used to supply the arms in local markets,” Singh said.

The police officer said the accused used to collect the material to assemble arms from Abdulla and Sadulla — both brothers and residents of Manger in Bihar.

Alauddin and Yusuf are residents of Meerut while Shafiq belongs to Khurja in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The three were booked under the Arms Act.
