ISLAMABAD - A man who set himself on fire in front of Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s house in Multan passed away Monday after struggling between life and death for nearly a day.

Mohammad Akram tried to commit self-immolation in front of Gilani’s house Sunday alleging lack of attention from authorities to his grievances, Online news agency reported.

The people present near the house tried to put out the fire, but Akram was badly burnt. He was shifted to a hospital, where he died Monday morning.

According to Akram’s relatives, he had been unemployed for quite some time and was tired of submitting applications everywhere and getting no response. He also tried to contact political leaders several times but was disappointed.

Frustrated and left with no choice, he set himself on fire in front of the prime minister’s house.
