Two arrested, 21 guns recovered in Mumbai

MUMBAI - Two people have been arrested and 21 country-made guns seized from them in suburban Borivli, a police officer said here Thursday.

Manish R. Tyagi alias Mule (27) and Nagesh S. Tyagi (29) were arrested Wednesday afternoon after the Crime Branch received a tip- off, the officer said.

“Twenty-one country-made guns and 15 live rounds were recovered from the duo. They have been arrested for illegally possessing arms and ammunition,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy told reporters Thursday.

While Manish is from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Nagesh is from Haridwar in Uttarakhand. “The duo was produced in court today (Thursday) and have been remanded in police custody till Sep 27,” Roy said.

Roy said that the duo is believed to have come to Mumbai on train and planned to deliver the consignment to somebody in Borivali.
