Man robbed at gunpoint, three car thefts in Noida

NOIDA - A manager of a Delhi-based firm was robbed of Rs.5 lakh at gunpoint while three cars were stolen in Noida in the last two days, police said Tuesday.

Kishore Kumar, an area manager of a housekeeping firm in Delhi, was carrying money to be distributed as salary to employees at the company’s Sector-59 office here when he was robbed Tuesday afternoon, a police official said.

Kumar had already distributed Rs.3 lakh and was leaving the office for another site to distribute the remaining sum on his two-wheeler when two men on a motorcycle stopped him, placed a pistol at his head and snatched the bag containing Rs.5 lakh, he added.

When he resisted, the assailants beat him up and attacked him with bricks before fleeing.

“We are on the look-out for the assailants and are trying to nab them. A case has been registered,” said Superintendent of Police (City) H.N. Singh.

In a separate case Monday, a person was robbed of his Toyota Corolla car in the Sector-58 police station area.

In a similar incident, the car of a resident of Sector-71 identified as Teetu was stolen. Three men armed with pistols threatened Teetu when he had just unlocked his Maruti Esteem Monday evening.

The assailants got inside the car with the victim and pushed him out of the vehicle about one kilometre away, police said.

In yet another car theft Monday evening, three unidentified armed men sped off with a senior BPO employee’s car outside a mall in Sector-61 here.

Ritesh Gupta had gone to the ATM at Shopprix Mall complex while his wife and two children waited for him in their Maruti Swift car. As Gupta walked towards his car, three men with pistols threatened them, asked his family to get down and fled with the car, said Circle Officer-III Vikas Tripathy.
