BEIJING - Floods triggered by torrential rains in China in 2010 have left a total of 3,185 people dead and at least 1,060 are still missing, the ministry of civil affairs said.

Heavy rains hit many provinces this year, including Gansu, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Jilin, Jiangxi and Hubei, affecting over 230 million people.

Around 15.2 million people had to be evacuated and 16.5 million hectares of crops were damaged, leading to economic losses worth 350 billion yuan ($51.4 billion), China Daily reported Wednesday citing the National Committee for Disaster Reduction.
