GANDHINAGAR - The Gujarat High Court Wednesday put off its order on a petition filed by a senior policeman seeking quashing of a case registered against him over an alleged staged killing 26 years ago.

Justice R.H. Shukla announced Wednesday that the order on the petition of Additional Director General of Police Kuldip Sharma has been reserved for Aug 27.

Sharma has been accused by the Gujarat criminal investigation department (CID) of murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy in connection with the shootout that took place in Kutch district 26 years ago. Four people were killed in the incident.

Sharma, an Indian Police Service officer, was then the district superintendent of police of Kutch district.

S.V. Raju, advocate for the petitioner, alleged that the four people killed in the shootout were spies, anti-national elements and smugglers.
