10 killed in China road accident

BEIJING - A truck slammed into a roadside crowd in east China’s Fujian province, killing 10 people and injuring two, authorities said Wednesday.

Eight people died on the spot when the truck crashed into a group of villagers resting and chatting near a highway in Shouning County late Tuesday, and two others died in a hospital, a spokesman with the county government said.

The two injured people are being treated at a local hospital, he said.
