Woman killed for dowry

RANCHI - A young woman was beaten to death by her in-laws for dowry in this Jharkhand capital, police said Saturday.

Gazala, 25, was beaten by an iron rod. Gazala’s mother alleged that her daughter, who was married last year, was being tortured by her husband and in-laws for Rs.30,000 and a gold chain, a police officer said.

Gazala’s mother has filed a police complaint.

After Gazala’s death, her neighbours ransacked her father-in-law Masood Alam’s house and beat her husband Mahboob Alam. The police arrested them later.
