Maoist surrenders in Jharkhand

RANCHI - A Maoist facing nine criminal cases surrendered to the police in Ranchi Thursday, police said.

Sudama alias Chand Mahto, area commander of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), surrendered before Sampat Meena, deputy inspector general of police of Ranchi zone.

“Chand, who joined the Kundan Pahan squad of Maoists in 2007, faces nine cases,” Meena told IANS.

Kundan Pahan is zonal commander of Maoists accused of several killings.

Six rebels have surrendered in the state in the last one month.
