Oklahoma house fire kills 2 adults, 4 children

WELEETKA, Okla. — Authorities say at least six people have died in a house fire in east Oklahoma.

State Medical Examiner’s office spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard says two adults and four children were killed in the Monday morning blaze in Weleetka town.

Ballard says the children’s ages range from one to 11 years.

Assistant State Fire Marshal JoAnne Sellars says a 9- or 10-year-old boy escaped from the burning house and ran to a neighbor, who called 911.

Sellars says the fire broke out inside the 1,300-square-foot home around 5 a.m.

State fire investigators are investigating the scene, about 70 miles south of Tulsa, Okla.
