Magnitude 7.5 earthquake hits near Vanuatu
SYDNEY — The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 has hit the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has not issued an alert and there have been no immediate reports of damage.
The USGS says the quake hit Tuesday about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northwest of Port Vila at a depth of 22 miles (35 kilometers).
