Leh Cloudburst Mourned By Politicians

LADAKH, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The devastating flash flood at Leh caused by an unprecedented Cloudburst that has claimed more than 100 lives and left the place in utter mess has sent shock waves across the country. The rescue and relief operations are still on and the leading political leaders of the country have expressed their grief and concern over the developments. Hamid Ansari the Rajya Sabha chairman and Meira Kumar the speaker of the Lok Sabha have expressed their condolence for the family of the deceased and injured people.
Sonia Gandhi the UPA chairperson also expressed her heartfelt sorrow and concern for the family of the people who have lost their lives in Leh after the cloudburst hit the region. She also wished the injured lot a fast recovery. The former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad said yesterday that owing to the nature of the tragedy the exact number of casualty cannot be said with certainty. His words proved to be true a day after the disaster more dead bodies were found after beneath the debris. He also said that apart from the relief work restoration of telecommunication network and road link was a priority.
Jammu and Kashmir’’s CM Omar Abdullah managed to reach the flood hit town of Leh on Friday after much effort. He said that relief operations are in full swing though rain and clement weather is turning out to be a major deterrent. Extensive rainfall is expected in nest two days which my make the work of the rescue teams harder. The loss of the property in the area has not been estimated yet.
