Army soldier arrested on molestation charge

KOLKATA - An army soldier has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman green police volunteer here, police said Wednesday.

Lance Naik Pradeep Jagdale, attached to the Eastern Command headquarters at Fort William, was nabbed redhanded when the victim raised an alarm after he tried to grab her in the central part of the city Tuesday night, police said.

A defence ministry spokesman here said “sternest action” would be taken by following the army disciplinary procedure if the personnel was found guilty.

“The procedure to hand him over to the army is on. Once he is handed over, he will be in the custody of the Military Police and a court of inquiry will look into the incident,” the official said.
