Man commits suicide, five financiers booked

YAMUNANAGAR - A 40-year-old man killed himself due to harassment by five financiers, who have been booked for abetment to suicide in this Haryana town, police said Tuesday.

According to the police, Sanjeev Kumar committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance Tuesday.

“On the basis of preliminary investigation, we have registered a case of abetment to suicide against five private financiers of Yamunanagar. We have sent the victim’s body for post-mortem and are waiting for the report,” said a police officer here Tuesday.

“We received a complaint from the deceased’s family members in which they had stated that the accused financiers were harassing Kumar over the issue of money for the last many months,” he added.

Yamunanagar is around 100 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
