ELTON, LOUISIANA (GaeaTimes.com)- A teenage boy was killed this weekend in the Jeff Davis Parish near Elton when the truck that he was driving struck against a train, thus crushing him and his vehicle. The police authorities who appeared at the scene of the train accident reported that the 19 year old had died instantly upon being hit by the train. According to reports of the authorities the train accident took place at around 10 in the morning.
The police officials believe that it was not the effect of alcohol that led the teenage boy to death. However toxicology tests have been ordered to be conducted on the boy named Josh Bertrand. It has been reported that the Union Pacific train which hit against the Ford Ranger that the 19 year old was driving, dragged the truck for nearly one mile before coming to a stop. The train accident took place on the Liberty Cemetery Road, close to the U.S. Highway 190.
The train accident is under investigation with officials from the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Union Pacific Railroad Police participating in it. All that has been reported to date by authorities who were present at the scene of the train accident is that the exact location where the accident took place on Saturday did not have a proper crossing gate and thus the train may have evaded the eyes of the driver. Josh Bertrand met with his death on Saturday. According to the personal page of the teenager on Facebook, the 19 year old was preparing to start his classes at the McNeese State University from this fall.
