AUCKLAND - Police in a New Zealand town have seized two tennis balls filled with cannabis and foiled the attempt of a recently-released prisoner, who was about to hurl the balls inside a prison.

Acting on a tip-off, police were waiting outside Wanganui prison, around 200 km from Wellington, Thursday morning when the former prisoner came by a car. Police stopped the car and recovered from him two tennis balls containing about 65 grams of cannabis with a market value of more than $3,000, New Zealand Herald reported.

The man and the car driver were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply it inside the prison.
