SYDNEY - Four people had a miraculous escape after an explosion in an Indian restaurant severely damaged the property.

Police are hunting for two men seen running from the scene after the blaze at the restaurant in Cleveland Street, Surry Hills, broke out Monday night, the Australian news agency AAP reported.

Four people in a residential property above the business escaped, the report said.

About 20 fire tenders managed to bring the blaze under control just after midnight, a spokesman for New South Wales Fire Brigades said.
