JOHANNESBURG - A small plane carrying World Cup fans made an emergency landing on a highway near Bloemfontein Sunday, a media report said.

The aircraft made the emergency landing at 11.30 a.m. (9.30 a.m. GMT), but there were no casualties, Xinhua reported citing the South African Press Association (SAPA).

Six people were on board the plane, which landed on the highway after a malfunction was detected during its flight from Benoni to Bloemfontein, police said.

Traffic on the highway returned to normal after the plane was removed, they said.
