28 hurt in British food factory explosion

LONDON - At least 28 people were injured in an explosion at a food factory in Staffordshire, an ambulance service said.

The blast occurred in a freezer at the Brakes depot in Tamworth in Staffordshire around midday, the Independent reported, quoting a statement from the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

A few injured people were treated at the scene while others were taken to a hospital.

Firefighters were called to the factory to deal with the situation, a spokesperson for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
