Tornadoes tear across northwest Minnesota, 1 dead
ALMORA, Minn. — Emergency officials say a woman is dead after a tornado destroyed her house in the small northwest Minnesota town of Almora.
The tornado was one of a series that raked across the state Thursday evening and left several people injured.
Debris including shingles and pieces of buildings littered Almora. Several large trees were uprooted.
Heavy damage also has been reported in the nearby town of Wadena. The mayor’s wife, Lori Wolden says houses are “half-gone” and no trees are left in the southwest part of the town of 4,000 people.
Almora and Wadena are about 70 miles southeast of Fargo, N.D.
