Man arrested with 11 fake passports

LUCKNOW - A man, allegedly involved in a human trafficking racket, was Thursday arrested with 11 fake passports in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district, police said.

Indrabhushan Sharma, 35, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district, was arrested from Mughalsarai railway station in Chandauli, some 300 km from Lucknow.

“Sharma works for a Kolkata-based travel company, whose agents charge hefty amount from people for sending them illegally to foreign countries,” Government Railway Police inspector Tripurari Pandey told reporters in Chaduali.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the human trafficking racket operated from Kolkata is spread in different cities of various states. We have provided the district police with some of the vital information revealed by Sharma about the racket. They will carry out further probe in the case,” he added.
