Obama: Americans praying for people of Gulf

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says that Americans are praying for the people of the Gulf as they deal with the catastrophic oil spill.

He said in his Oval Office speech Tuesday night that the country also prays that a “hand may guide us through the storm towards a brighter day.”

The president said Americans’ strength and resilience will help get the country through the crisis — as will “our unyielding faith that something better awaits us if we summon the courage to reach for it.”
