Obama to focus on oil spill in series of meetings
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is focusing on the Gulf oil spill for a good part of his day.
In the morning, he will be briefed on the spill.
The president will then meet with Senate and House leaders from both parties at the White House to discuss the economy and the oil spill.
In the afternoon, the president will offer his condolences to family members of the 11 workers killed in the April 20 explosion and fire on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.
Later, Obama will meet separately with Sen. Arlen Specter and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in the Oval Office.
After those meetings, the president will discuss energy reform with business leaders and energy experts.
