Jharkhand municipal election observer missing

RANCHI - Albert Murmu, a municipal election observer, went missing Saturday from a railway station while going to Ranchi from Deoghar district in Jharkhand, police said.

“We have got information that Murmu went missing from Shankarpur railway station. A body has been found near the station. We are trying to identify the dead body,” said Pramod Kumar, sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Deoghar district, told reporters.

Murmu, a joint secretary in water resources department, was appointed as observer of Deoghar municipal corporation election scheduled later this month.

He was returning Saturday from Deoghar to Ranchi by an intercity express train along with his colleague before he went missing, police said.
