Sinkhole closes down Interstate 44 in Tulsa, Okla.
TULSA, Okla. — A sinkhole has shut down a section of Interstate 44 in Tulsa, Okla.
Police are diverting traffic from I-44 to other roads in south Tulsa. Authorities say the hole opened up about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, and steadily expanded.
Officials say it could be Thursday afternoon before the interstate reopens. Oklahoma Department of Transportation crews plan to work on the gap through the night.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. George Brown says rush-hour traffic will be affected Thursday morning and is urging motorists to find alternate routes.
