GHAZIABAD - A Ghaziabad jail inmate died Friday of a brain tumour in a hospital here, an official said.

Rajesh, 39, was suffering from brain tumour. “Today (Friday) his condition worsened. He was immediately rushed to a district hospital where he died during treatment,” jail superintendent V.K. Singh said.

He said Rajesh had to be rushed to hospitals thrice in the past also.

“In October last year, he was referred to G.B. Pant Hospital in Delhi. The brain tumour was detected there. The hospital authorities had asked us to admit him to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) but due to non-availability of dates for operation, he was being taken care of in the jail hospital,” Singh said.

He said Rajesh was in jail since October 2006.
