Man jumps to death from court building

CHANDIGARH - A 38-year-old man, who was allegedly under depression, committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the district court building here Thursday, police said.

According to police, the man identified as Sunil Kumar Midha was undergoing treatment for depression here at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).

“Midha was from Patiala town in Punjab and he was staying here at his sister’s house. He had retired from Indian Air Force and today (Thursday) he left the house for buying some fruits. But he reached the court complex and jumped from the fourth floor,” said the police official here Thursday.

He added: “He was immediately taken to the PGIMER where doctors declared him brought dead. We have informed his relatives and would hand over his body after the post-mortem examination.”
