Small plane crashes into two-story building
TORONTO — A small plane has crashed into a small office building just north of Toronto near an airport.
York region police Constable Gary Phillips says the plane crashed into the roof of the Thinkway Toys Division building Tuesday. The roof was engulfed in flames following the crash, but it was quickly doused by emergency crews.
Phillips says it is not immediately clear whether anyone in the building or plane was injured nor how many people were on board the plane.
The plane crashed through part of the roof, with some of the debris strewn on the roof.
Nearby Buttonville Airport is surrounded by densely populated neighborhoods.
Phillips says he doesn’t know if it was leaving the airport or making a final approach.
