Kanaan crashes again at Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — Brazil’s Tony Kanaan has crashed for the second straight day, jeopardizing his hopes of qualifying for the Indianapolis 500.

Kanaan was driving a practice lap Sunday morning when he lost control. The rear end hit the outside wall, then he skidded down the track and came to a stop at the entrance to turn two.

The Andretti Autosport driver has been released from the medical center and cleared to drive. Sunday is the final day of qualifying for the May 30 race.

On Saturday, Kanaan did a 180-degree spin on the first qualifying lap. The car snapped back around before sliding up the track and hitting the wall hard. He didn’t return, ending his shot at the pole.

Kanaan qualified in the first two rows the past eight Indy 500s.
