NEW DELHI - Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejender Khanna Thursday discussed the law and order situation with the capital’s Home Secretary G.S. Patnaik.

A top state government official described the meeting as a “routine affair” but sources said issues related to parliament attack convict Afzal Guru’s execution might have come up for discussion.

The meeting came a day after the Delhi government forwarded to the lieutenant governor’s office a file on Guru’s mercy petition to President Pratibha Patil. The Delhi government has backed Guru’s execution.

“The meeting was a routine affair to discuss law and order situation in the city. Afzal Guru’s matter was not discussed,” the official told IANS.

However, a government source said that as the city government had aired apprehensions of cited law and order problem in the wake of Guru’s execution, issues related to it might have been discussed.

The Delhi government Wednesday sent the file on Guru’s mercy petition to the lieutenant governor, a day after he had sought some clarifications on it.
