Two criminals shot dead in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW - Two criminals wanted in cases of murder, loot and kidnapping were Monday gunned down by a team of the Special Task Force (STF) in Uttar Pradesh’s Chitrakoot district, police said.

Raja Khan and Rahul Tiwari, both in their early 30s, were shot dead in a forest area of Tikria village, Superintendent of Police Tehsildar Singh told IANS on phone from Chitrakoot, some 300 km from Lucknow.

They operated in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Khan carried a bounty of Rs.60,000 on his head while Tiwari had a reward of over Rs.22,000 for his capture.

Police have constituted teams to nab five associates of Khan and Tiwari who managed to escape during the gunfight.
