LONDON - A British glider pilot, who survived after landing in a garden hedge, profusely apologised to the house owners, saying “I’m so sorry”.

Mike and Eileen Baber were watching TV when the glider crashed.

“I heard this loud thud and I came outside and saw the glider stuck in our garden. It was rush hour so I am very pleased the pilot did not hit anything on the road and it could have been so much worse.

“We are very lucky there is no damage and the pilot walked away without a scratch. It was a miracle he survived,” Daily Express quoted Mike, 72, as saying.

The 49-year-old pilot was attempting to land at nearby Bicester Gliding Club, Oxfordshire, Thursday.

Eileen said: “The pilot was in shock but he said, ‘I’m fine, I’m so sorry’. The gliders come over quite low and we wondered just how close they’d come one day.”
