Industrialist beaten to death in Greater Noida

GREATER NOIDA - An industrialist died in hospital Saturday after being brutally beaten by four men in his factory here late Friday night, police said. One of the assailants has been arrested.

While the dead industrialist’s brother said the assault took place after they refused to meet the extortion demands of a local gang, police said it was a case of enmity.

Four people barged in the factory of Prem Prakash Tyagi in Chhapraula area under Badalpur police station while he was supervising the night shift and brutally beat him and his brother, Anil.

The two were were taken to Yashoda hospital in Ghaziabad where Tyagi succumbed to his injuries. Anil, who was also critically injured, was improving.

The third brother, Manoj alleged that Yogendra, a local criminal, had demanded Rs.2 lakh as extortion money from his brother and had assaulted him when he expressed his inability to pay. He said they had complained to police about the extortion demand Thursday.

“The main accused Yogendra has been arrested. Police are trying to nab other accused criminals. It was case of enmity,” Superintendent of Police, Greater Noida Surendra Kumar Verma said.
