Three arrested for abducting, selling woman

CHANDIGARH - Three people were Friday arrested here on charges of abducting and selling a woman and her three-month-old son in September last year, police said.

The woman, Sonia, returned to her husband’s home in Maloya village Wednesday after nearly eight months and narrated the entire story to the police.

A mother of three, Sonia lived with her husband in the village. She disappeared Sep 28 last year.

She told the police that three people, Nirmala Devi, Geeta and Vir Singh, abducted her and her three-month-old son, said investigating officer Baldev Singh.

Sonia was sold to Sanjay Kumar of Kangra town for Rs.40,000. Kumar married her. The abductors then sold off the boy for Rs.32,000.
