ROHTAK - Two people were gunned down and a policeman was injured when armed men attacked a car in broad daylight Thursday in this Haryana district, said police.

According to police, the killed were identified as Phool Kumar and Kheema.

Phool Kumar was serving a jail sentence in a double murder case and was out on parole.

At the time of the incident, Phool Kumar, his son Himmat, friend Kheema and a police security guard Bansi Lal were going to Rohtak jail.

“Near Kheri village bypass, some armed youths blocked their way and started firing. Two people were killed while the security guard sustained some minor injuries. Himmat managed to escape from the spot. An old enmity could be a reason behind this attack,” Dalbir Singh Yadav, deputy superintendent of police of Rohtak, said.
