Redstone Arsenal Explosion Injures Two

HUNTSVILLE (GaeaTimes.com)- According to the latest reports the officials of the Redstone Arsenal Army base on Wednesday claimed that two people have been injured and nobody has been killed in the chemical explosion that took place on Wednesday at the north Alabama Army base. Some sources earlier just after the explosion claimed that one person was killed and one injured as they were briefed by a county official.

The Deputy Public Affairs Officer, Kimberly Henry on Wednesday said to reporters that one of the persons injured by the Redstone Arsenal explosion has been flown to a Birmingham hospital by a helicopter and the other was rushed to a Huntsville hospital. The condition of the injured at present has not been revealed to the media by the official. The statement released by Kimberly Henry mentions particularly that no fatalities have been recorded and that all the employees at the Redstone Arsenal have been accounted for. The Redstone Arsenal employs 32,000 people reportedly.

The Redstone Arsenal Army base deals with aviation and missile tests and the explosion took place in Building 7352 reportedly in which apart from tests missile and aviation researches are also carried out. However, what has caused the explosion at such a risky zone has not been disclosed to the media sources. Parker Griffith who is the U.S. Representative of Huntsville has mentioned to reporters that the explosion took place when the contract workers were reportedly removing ammonium perchlorate a kind of propellant from rockets. Parker Griffith maintained that the job which the contract workers were carrying out was a “highly dangerous work”.
